Is DUNE completely clear upon application on all skin tones?

Yes. All of DUNE’s products are a mint green masstone & gel texture that are invisible on even the darkest of skin tones - trust, we’ve tested them out on everyone poolside. It’s a huge focus for us to not only offer inclusive products, but ones that are also of the highest quality with proven skincare benefits. Every skin tone needs to wear sunscreen every day to protect from the sun’s harmful rays (sorry, no one’s invincible to them). And now with DUNE, we truly hope all can enjoy the experience of wearing it too. #solongwhitecastproblems

Why do you use the ingredients you do?

At DUNE, we are (almost) as passionate about skincare as as we are suncare. Fact is, SPF is the only preventative in skincare - humble brag, it also saves lives. When we worked with our brilliant formulators, it was important to us that we utilize the power of plants & fruits in our products - ones that have been used for centuries to heal, protect, and improve our skin. Take a gander at our ingredients list on our product pages to learn a bit more about the impact of each of the ingredients we use and love. Our 72 hour hydration claim that can be found in all our products is also the longest hydration claim in the world so lube up - and save up.

How long does each bottle last?

We often chat about “Universal Sunscreen Culture” which means that, culturally speaking, we would bet the universal “you” knows the experience of bringing sunscreen to the beach or pool only to find that by the end of the day, the bottle’s almost completely out. Friends lounging nearby will often pick it up and ask mid-application, “hey, can I borrow some?!” leaving you, that generously stocked friend, outta screen by day’s end….and possibly even broken hearted, especially if you spent a pretty penny on it. Hey, we all just need to get covered so no judgment - we’ve been those friends, too.

Provided this familiar & unfortunate circumstance, we made sure that we offered an above average supply of high quality product in larger bottles - comparatively to other screens out there - and at an accessible price point (especially as we offer 241 skincare packed SPF). Our water whipped, weightless gel formulations also make them super spreadable so a little bit goes a long way. Fewer shopping trips = more convenience + greater savings. Where are your products made?

All of DUNE’s products are made and manufactured in the USA.

What does "clean chemical" SPF mean?

A thoughtful mix of SPF chemical actives - like the ones seen in The Mug & Bod Guards - such as avobenzone, homosalate octisalate, and octocrylene — which are all deemed safe for humans and the environment.

Does DUNE test on animals?

Nope, we love animals. DUNE’s products are PETA Certified, vegan and cruelty-free.

Are your products Non-GMO?

DUNE’s products are BIORIUS certified, Non-GMO. We’re also Non-toxic, Non-Nano, Paraben Free, Reef Friendly, and Dermatologist Tested. Extra extra.

Are your products reef friendly?

"Reef Safe/Friendly" are not currently regulated by the FDA. There are different regulations which lead to consumer confusion. However, we reference Hawaii Act 104 which axed the use of Oxybenzone and Octinoxate. DUNE is proud to say that all of our formulas meet this standard.

Are your products Fragrance Free? Will they irritate sensitive skin?

Both The Mug Guard and The Lifeguard are fragrance free to be as non-irritating as possible for sensitive skin, particularly on the face, where skin tends to be the most sensitive. The Bod Guard offers a light, fresh, and unisex Sea Salt scent. It also has ingredients that contain antibacterial properties so as much as it’s pleasant to wear, it’s also safe to use on acne-prone skin. Even better, all of DUNE’s products won’t clog pores.

Do you really need sunscreen if you have dark skin?

No questions asked! Although darker-skinned people won't get sunburned as quickly, they do still burn and are susceptible to sun-induced damage—such as sun spots and wrinkles—and that scary c-word that rhymes with “dancer.”

Can I get a refund if DUNE doesn't work for me?

We are dedicated to making your experience the best it can be. If for any reason you are not 100% satisfied with your purchase, your order can be returned for a full refund within 30 days of delivery. Email info@dunesuncare.com to set up a return.

Is your packaging recyclable?

Yes, all of DUNE’s packaging is recyclable. We encourage you to recycle your beloved bottles after use to give them another life.

What is the difference between UVA and UVB?

Two types of UV light are proven to contribute to the risk for skin cancer: Ultraviolet A (UVA) has a longer wavelength, and is associated with skin aging. Ultraviolet B (UVB) has a shorter wavelength and is associated with skin burning. Rad way to remember - the final letter after ‘UV’ provides a helpful hint. “A” - aging. “B” - burning. Hey, don’t mention it. DUNE’s SPF products are Broad Spectrum to protect you from both.

Is DUNE safe to use on kids?

DUNE can be used on kids from ages 2+. Please consult a doctor before applying to youngsters ages 6 months - 2 years. Babies ages 0 - 6 months should not wear sunscreen at all, and instead, should be shielded from the sun’s harmful rays altogether. If out in the sun, babies should be covered entirely in protective clothing & wearing a cute, little hat.

How often should I reapply sunscreen?

You should be applying / reapplying sunscreen every two hours, especially after swimming or sweating. If you feel yourself getting a little toasty, better lather up and be safe, than sorry.

Do the skincare claims in your products really work?

Absolutely. And we have the testing to prove it. All of our products went through extensive, multi-facility, multi-subject 28-day testing runs to physically show the results of our clinical claims. Can I purchase your products in bulk?

Should I use sunscreen over/under makeup?

Rule of thumb is skincare first, SPF second, makeup last. Good news is, DUNE’s products can also act as your daily skincare products so you can save time (and moolah). Our products are non-greasy, non-piling, and absorb instantly for healthy, hydrated, and flat out gorgeous looking skin sure to stop traffic even on the Pacific Coast Highway.

Is DUNE suitable for all skin types?

Are DUNE’s suncare products water resistant?

Yes, The Mug Guard & The Bod Guard are clinically tested & proven to be 40 minute water resistant. So, swim, sweat, and rock on.

What are your shipping rates in the US?

In the US, we offer $4.99 Standard Shipping on all orders under $45, fulfillment & transit time is around 7-9 business days.

If you would like your DUNE sooner, we also offer 2-Day Exepdited Shipping for $15 flat rate (please account for another additonal 2 days of fullfillment time). Standard Shipping is FREE on all orders of $45 or more so stock up & get your essential goods for summer!

Do you ship internationally?

International shipping is currently available to all US States & Territories + International markets except Japan. Shipping rates for international orders will be calculated at checkout.

We ship all our international orders with Passport, our trusted third-party international shipping carrier. Passport has a number of shipping partners around the world that handle your local delivery and ensure your package arrives safely and quickly.

Do I have to pay duties and taxes?

To create a better delivery experience for you, we ship all international orders Delivered Duty Paid (DDP). By shipping DDP, duties and taxes are collected directly at checkout so that your package is not stopped and held by customs.

When will I receive my order?

We want you to receive your order as fast as possible!

International orders are typically delivered within 8 -14 business days once the order has been fulfilled. Once your order has been fulfilled, the estimated delivery date will be shown on your tracking page.

My package seems to have stopped moving.

If your package stops moving at any point, do not fret! It is still on its way to you and is likely just clearing customs. Occasionally, there may be delays due to customs or weather events. If this happens, your tracking page will be updated with the latest shipping status.
